Don't Miss the Focal Point! |
Home beautification is no longer a matter of great wealth. A home is what you make it. It could also be classified as a still life portrait adequately expressing the personality of the people inhabiting the home. Some homes demand cozy comfort while others create a formal atmosphere.
Don't miss the focal point as you walk through your home and try to analyze the room(s) you want to decorate. Stand in the center of each room. Look all around you and take notice of the wall proportions and how they relate to the windows, furnishings, and remaining available space. Next, look at the walls -- are they bare or cluttered? Are the ceilings vaulted? What are the architectural features of the windows? Study the traffic patterns. Take visual inventory of accessories -- are they balanced or cluttered? Do the floor coverings tie in with the overall design scheme?
Proportions and emphasis should be varied within the room design, sometimes however; your design may look cluttered without one concentrated point of interest. As professional designers, we can assist you in solving these dilemmas and create the atmosphere you desire. Designing a beautiful home plan takes time, research and money. We, in the design industry, have a plethora of resources available and can present you with a plan -- developing color scheme, furniture arrangement, lighting schemes, etc. We also implement your plan by placing all orders, receiving shipments, coordinating installation.
We can save you valuable time and money.

Your entrance foyer is an introduction to your home. It should not only welcome your guests, but also provide clues to the personality of your home. This entrance area impacts heavily on your guest's first impressions.
The smaller foyers can be made more inviting with vivid colors or textures on the walls. Consider a few eye-catching accessories and an attractive rug, or a striking pattered tile floor. Brighten up the foyer with light fixtures, both ceiling and wall, because light creates spaciousness.
For the long narrow foyers with staircases, think of sweeping blank canvases that you can turn into visual interest with wallpaper, trompe l'oeil painting, or start a collection of inexpensive watercolor paintings collected as mementoes from your vacations. Decorated walls take the place of furniture. And, in all cases, don't forget mirrors. Mirrors reflect light and will make a small area larger and brighter.
For the larger foyer, always have a chair or bench, and a table or chest for holding small items and displaying flowers, etc. The larger foyer should always be created as a quality room, i.e., a room of its own, rather than a passage-way.
Any foyer scheme you choose should relate to the rooms opening off that foyer. It should heighten the anticipation of what is to come. It's ambiance colors and quality should be in harmony with the adjoining rooms while still providing it's own excitement and personality.
Remember that your entrance foyer is the first impression of your home, and first impressions are usually lasting.

One Color Doesn't Fit All |
Do you ever wonder what the colors of the future will be? Listed below is what the industry is predicting:
- Neutrals will be reemphasized by using a deep cinder and garnet punch.
- Grays will be a warm, natural linen shade, or you may lean toward the sleek, icy pale gray & warm charcoals.
- The old world colors such as golds, livable reds and deep navy in understated tones that have a rich patina may be more to your liking, or -- what about the deep, muddied burgundies, taupes and cinnabar?
- A color that will be around for a while will be purple, a powerful color this season. Purple will range from Chianti to every other shade and will work well with khakis, pear and corn-silk.
- Long live the colors of green! Tender shades of green, a natural extension of nature inspired patterns, -- such as laves, ferns and grasses.
- Then we have the return of blue -- all hues as well as aqua, turquoise and navy.
So many gorgeous colors! Give us a call, we can assist you with all your decisions.
